🏆 Selection Process

UPSC CAPF AC 2026 is a multi-stage selection conducted by UPSC. Applications are closed; the Written Examination is on 19 July 2026. Here is the complete selection process:

  1. Stage 1 – Written Examination (450 marks): Two papers on the same day. Paper I is an objective-type test (250 marks, 2 hours) on General Ability and Intelligence covering English, General Knowledge, and Analytical Ability. Paper II is a descriptive test (200 marks, 3 hours) on General Studies, Essay writing, Précis, and Comprehension. Both papers are held at UPSC examination centres across India.
  2. Stage 2 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates shortlisted from the Written Exam are called for PET. The PET includes running, long jump, high jump, and shot put events. PET is qualifying — it does not add marks. Failure in PET results in disqualification.
  3. Stage 3 – Medical Examination: PET-qualified candidates undergo a comprehensive medical examination. Eye standards, physical fitness, and absence of medical conditions that could affect field duties are verified.
  4. Stage 4 – Interview / Personality Test (150 marks): The final stage is a structured interview conducted by UPSC for candidates who clear the written exam, PET, and medical. It assesses personality, leadership qualities, general awareness, and suitability for command roles. NCC B/C certificate holders are given preference.
  5. Final Merit: Written Exam (Paper I + Paper II) + Interview = 600 marks total. Final allotment to forces (BSF/CRPF/CISF/SSB/ITBP) is based on merit and preference.
