  • Option 1: Matriculation (Class 10th / SSLC) from a recognised board + ITI (NCVT/SCVT) certificate in a relevant trade
  • Option 2: Matriculation + Act Apprenticeship in an approved trade
  • Option 3: Matriculation + 3-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile) from a recognised polytechnic

🏆 Selection Process

RRB ALP 2026 selection involves five stages. Each stage is eliminatory.

  1. CBT 1 — Computer Based Test (Qualifying): 75 questions in 60 minutes covering Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. Score is used only for shortlisting to CBT 2. Negative marking of 1/3 applies.
  2. CBT 2 — Part A and Part B: Part A (100 questions, 90 minutes) covers Maths, Reasoning, Basic Science and Engineering, and General Awareness — marks count towards merit. Part B (75 questions, 60 minutes) tests trade-specific technical knowledge and is qualifying in nature (minimum 35% required).
  3. CBAT — Computer Based Aptitude Test: Tests job-related aptitude through six test batteries: Spatial Scanning, Information Ordering, Perceptual Speed, Selective Attention, Short-Term Memory, and Speed and Accuracy. Minimum qualifying score: 42 marks per battery. No negative marking.
  4. Document Verification (DV): Original educational certificates, caste certificate (if applicable), and identity documents are physically verified.
  5. Medical Examination (ME): Candidates must meet Class A2 medical fitness standards. Eyesight requirements: Distant Vision 6/6 and 6/9 (without glasses), Near Vision Sn. 0.6 and 0.6 (without glasses). Colour vision: Normal.

  2. Click on New Registration and register with your mobile number and email ID to receive login credentials.
  3. Log in and select CEN 01/2026 — Assistant Loco Pilot from the list of active notifications.
  4. Fill in personal details, ITI trade (or diploma/degree details), category, preferred RRB zone, and exam city choices.
  5. Upload your recent passport-size photograph (JPEG, 20–50 KB) and signature (JPEG, 10–40 KB) in the prescribed formats.
  6. Pay the application fee: Rs. 500 for General/OBC/EWS candidates. Rs. 250 for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Women/Transgender/Minorities/EBC candidates (Rs. 250 is refunded after CBT 1 to eligible categories on submission of bank account details).
  7. Review all entered details thoroughly before final submission — details cannot be edited after submission.
  8. Download and print the application confirmation slip. Note your Registration Number for all future correspondence.
