Educational Qualification

BPSC 72nd CCE 2026 follows a three-stage competitive selection process:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Round): A single MCQ-based paper of 150 marks and 2 hours. Only General Studies topics are covered. Negative marking of 1/3 applies for each wrong answer. The exam is objective and qualifying in nature — Prelims marks are NOT counted in the final merit. Shortlisting ratio is typically 10–15 times the total vacancies.
  2. Main Examination (Written — Merit-Based): A descriptive exam spread across multiple days. Papers include General Hindi (qualifying, 100 marks), General Studies Paper I and II (300 marks each), and an Optional Subject paper (300 marks). The Main Exam marks determine the shortlist for the interview round.
