Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree from a university incorporated under the UGC Act, 1956. The degree should be in any discipline; however, for certain posts such as the Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, a B.Com, B.L., or relevant qualification may be preferred.

Final-year degree students may apply provisionally for the Preliminary Examination but must produce the degree certificate before the Mains/Interview.

Language requirement: Knowledge of Tamil is required. Candidates who have not studied Tamil as a subject up to Class 10 must pass a Tamil Special Test before final appointment.

🏆 Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Examination (September 6, 2026, qualifying): Single session, 200 questions (175 GS + 25 Aptitude & Mental Ability), 300 marks, 3 hours. OMR-based, no negative marking. Marks NOT counted in final merit.
  2. Main Examination (Descriptive, merit-based): Four papers — Tamil (100 marks, qualifying), GS Paper I (250 marks), GS Paper II (250 marks), GS Paper III (250 marks). Total merit marks from written exam: 750 marks.
  3. Interview / Certificate Verification: 100 marks. Conducted for candidates shortlisted from the Mains. Assesses personality, administrative aptitude, and communication skills.
  4. Final Merit: Mains Papers II–IV (750) + Interview (100) = 850 marks total. Tamil Paper I is qualifying.
