Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised Indian university. Final-year students may apply provisionally.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be an original inhabitant of Assam with proficiency in Assamese or an official/tribal language of the state.
  • Must be registered with a District Employment Office in Assam — a valid Employment Registration Card is required.
  • Candidates from states other than Assam are not eligible.
Age Limit 21 – 38 years
Age Relaxation General/Unreserved: 21–38 years (as on January 1, 2026). SC/ST (Plains & Hills): up to 43 years (+5). OBC/MOBC: up to 41 years (+3). PwBD: up to 48 years (+10). Ex-Servicemen: as per Assam government norms.

🏆 Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective, OMR-based, Screening): Two papers — Paper I and Paper II, each carrying 200 marks, 2 hours. Total 400 marks. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer. Marks NOT counted in final merit.
  2. Main Examination (Descriptive, Merit-based): Seven papers including Essay (250 marks) and General Studies I–V (250 marks each). Language papers (English and Assamese) are qualifying. Total merit marks from written papers: 1,500 marks.
  3. Interview / Personality Test: 180 marks. Conducted by an APSC board at Guwahati. Assesses knowledge, administrative aptitude, and communication skills.
  4. Final Merit: Mains merit papers (1,500) + Interview (180) = 1,680 marks total.

  2. Apply for the CCE 2025 advertisement within the application window (April 13 – May 3, 2026). Ensure your Employment Registration Card from an Assam District Employment Office is valid.

  4. Upload your photograph and signature as per the specified dimensions (JPG format).
  5. Pay the fee: Rs. 250 + Rs. 40 processing + Rs. 7.20 tax (General); Rs. 150 + Rs. 47.20 (OBC/MOBC); Rs. 47.20 only (SC/ST/BPL/PwBD/Women). Fee payment deadline: May 5, 2026.

Assam Civil Service (ACS) officers are placed in Pay Band 4 (Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1,10,000) with Grade Pay of Rs. 12,700 to Rs. 13,300. Inspectors and Sub-Registrars are in Pay Band 3 (Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 97,000) with Grade Pay of Rs. 9,400. With DA and HRA, the gross monthly salary ranges from Rs. 45,000 to Rs. 80,000 depending on the post.
