🏆 Selection Process

SSC GD Constable 2026 selection involves four stages. Physical fitness is tested before the final medical — only the fittest candidates make it through.

  1. Computer Based Examination (CBE): An online objective test of 80 questions and 160 marks in 60 minutes. Shortlists candidates for the Physical round based on merit and category-wise cutoffs.
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): A running test. Male candidates: 5 km in 24 minutes. Female candidates: 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes. Ex-servicemen are exempted from PET. Candidates who fail PET are disqualified.
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST): Checks height, weight, and chest (for male candidates). Male: Height 170 cm, Chest 80/85 cm (unexpanded/expanded). Female: Height 157 cm. Relaxed standards apply for candidates from North-East states, hilly areas, and Garhwal/Kumaon regions. Weight should be proportionate to height.
  4. Medical Examination (DME) and Document Verification (DV): A detailed medical examination checks overall fitness including eyesight, colour blindness, hearing, and physical defects. Original documents are verified at the same stage.
