✅ Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

RBI Grade B Officer 2026 has distinct qualification requirements for each of the three cadres. Read carefully before applying:

  • General (DR) Stream:
    • Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent).
    • OR Post-Graduation (Master's degree or equivalent) with minimum 55% marks.
    • OR a 3-year professional course (Law, Engineering, CA/ICAI final, etc.) of equivalent standard.
    • SC / ST / PwBD candidates: 50% marks in graduation (or pass class in post-graduation).
  • DEPR (Economic & Policy Research) Stream:
    • Master's degree in Economics, Econometrics, Finance, Commerce, or Statistics with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD).
    • OR MBA / PGDM with specialisation in Finance (55% / 50% respectively).
  • DSIM (Statistics & Info Management) Stream:
    • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or Econometrics with minimum 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD).
    • OR M.Stat from Indian Statistical Institute (ISI).
    • OR PGDBA from ISI–IIT–IIM collaborative programme.
  • Important: Final year students are NOT eligible. The qualifying degree result must be officially declared before the notification date.

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years (max 33 years)
  • SC / ST: 5 years (max 35 years)
  • PwBD – General / EWS: 10 years (max 40 years)

  • Ex-Employees of RBI: Age relaxation as per RBI rules
  • DEPR / DSIM candidates: Candidates with relevant teaching/research experience of at least 2 years may get additional age relaxation — refer to the official notification for exact terms
  • Age is calculated as on 01 April 2026. Candidates born between 02 April 1996 and 01 April 2005 (both inclusive) are eligible for the General stream.

🏆 Selection Process

RBI Grade B 2026 is a three-stage selection process — Phase I (Preliminary), Phase II (Mains), and Interview. Each stage is critical and must be cleared to proceed further.

  1. Phase I – Preliminary Examination (Qualifying): An online objective test for all three cadres. For the General cadre: English Language (30 Qs/30 marks/25 min), General Awareness (80 Qs/80 marks/25 min), Quantitative Aptitude (30 Qs/30 marks/25 min), and Reasoning (60 Qs/60 marks/45 min) — total 200 marks in 120 minutes. Phase I marks are NOT counted in the final merit. It is a qualifying round only.
  2. Phase II – Mains Examination (Merit-determining): For General stream: Paper I — Economic & Social Issues (100 marks, 120 min, objective + descriptive); Paper II — English Writing Skills (100 marks, 90 min, descriptive); Paper III — Finance & Management (100 marks, 120 min, objective + descriptive). For DEPR: Economics paper; For DSIM: Statistics paper. Sectional cut-offs apply. Phase II marks determine the final merit score.
  3. Interview / Personality Test: Candidates shortlisted after Phase II are called for a structured interview carrying 75 marks. Final merit = Phase II marks + Interview marks.

📝 How to Apply

Apply online for RBI Grade B 2026 before 20 May 2026 (6:00 PM) at the official IBPS portal. Application fee: ₹1,003 (General/OBC/EWS) inclusive of GST, ₹118 (SC/ST/PwBD).

  1. Visit the Application Portal: Go to ibpsreg.ibps.in/rbisbmar26/ or the official RBI website at rbi.org.in.
  2. New Registration: Click "Click here for New Registration." Enter your name, DOB, contact number, and email ID. Your provisional registration number and password will be generated — save them immediately.
  3. Fill the Application Form: Log in with your credentials. Select the cadre (General / DEPR / DSIM), fill in personal details, educational qualifications (with percentage/CGPA), and upload required documents.
  4. Choose Exam Centre: Select your preferred examination city from the available list.
  5. Pay the Fee: Pay ₹1,003 (General/OBC/EWS) or ₹118 (SC/ST/PwBD) online via the IBPS payment gateway (Net Banking / Debit / Credit Card / UPI).
  6. Submit and Download: Review all details before clicking "Final Submit." Download and print the system-generated application form and payment receipt for future reference.
