Educational Qualification

Eligibility criteria vary by post:

  • Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Proficiency in the official language of the state of the applying RRB is mandatory.
  • Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager): Bachelor's Degree in any discipline. Proficiency in local language. Preference for candidates with 2 years of experience (not mandatory).
  • Officer Scale II (Generalist): Bachelor's Degree + minimum 2 years of banking experience. Specific educational qualifications for specialist posts (IT Officer, CA, Law Officer, Agriculture Officer, etc.).
  • Officer Scale III (Senior Manager): Bachelor's Degree + minimum 5 years of banking experience as an Officer.

Selection process for Officer Scale I and Office Assistant involves three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Qualifying): An online objective test of 80 questions and 80 marks in 45 minutes. Two sections: Reasoning (40 questions) and Numerical Ability (40 questions). Sectional cutoffs apply. Prelims marks are not counted in final merit — only used for shortlisting to Mains.
  2. Main Examination (Merit-Based): A comprehensive online objective test of 200 marks in 120 minutes. Five sections covering Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness (Banking), English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge. Final allotment is based solely on Mains marks.
  3. Language Proficiency Test (LPT): A qualifying test conducted after provisional allotment at the respective RRB. Candidates must demonstrate basic literacy in the official language of the state. Those who have studied the language up to Class X are typically exempted.

Note for Officer Scale II and III: Single-level exam (no Prelims) followed by an interview for specialist posts.
