🏆 Selection Process

SBI PO 2026 selection involves three stages. There is no shortcut — all three must be cleared to receive a final offer.

  1. Phase 1 — Preliminary Examination: An online objective test of 100 marks in 60 minutes. Sectional cutoffs apply. Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit — they only determine shortlisting for Mains.
  2. Phase 2 — Main Examination: A two-part exam on the same day. Objective (200 marks, 180 minutes) plus Descriptive (50 marks, 30 minutes — Essay + Letter Writing typed on a computer). Merit for the final stage is based on Mains score only.
  3. Phase 3 — Group Discussion and Interview: GD is worth 20 marks; Personal Interview is worth 30 marks. Minimum qualifying marks: 12/20 (GD) and 18/30 (Interview) for General/EWS; 10/20 and 15/30 for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD.

Final Merit: Mains marks (225 marks) + GD and Interview (50 marks) are scaled to 75:25 ratio for the final selection and allotment.
